Sheriff Correction Deputy Trainees go through vigorous enforcement training as part of their curricula at the Training Academy. They are trained in many types of situations they may encounter as a correction officer in the Shelby County Jail. The Basic Recruit Program is 20 Weeks Per Session. Officers also go through an In-Service Program which is 40 Hours Annually.
