Employee of the Year - 2007
Lieutenant Andy Boyd has been selected the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office “Employee of the Year” for 2007. Lieutenant Boyd, commander of the Sheriff’s Office Pistol Range, was chosen from 15 other candidates who received “Employee of the Quarter” Awards last year.

Lieutenant Boyd, 44, began his career with the Sheriff’s Office in December 1988. Before his command at the Sheriff’s Office Pistol Range, he commanded the SWAT Team. Through the years, he served in various bureaus including Uniform Patrol, Narcotics, Interstate Drug Interdiction Team and the Bomb Squad.
He was promoted to Sergeant in October 1997 and then to Lieutenant in May 2005. Lieutenant Boyd was also selected to attend the FBI National Academy. He graduated this past March.
Besides his service with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, Lieutenant Boyd enjoys hunting, fishing and coaching softball. He lives in Bartlett, Tennessee with his wife of nine years, Karen Kalkbrenner Boyd. He has three children, daughter Alexandra (14), stepdaughter Allison (16) and stepson Austin (13).
