Area Traffic Saturations Yield 120 Citations

Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted “Zero Tolerance” enforcement efforts in Shelby County yesterday. Through a grant by the State of Tennessee Department of Transportation, Governor’s Highway Safety Office, Deputies have been conducting traffic safety initiatives to target dangerous driving and impaired driving, especially by teenagers.
Sheriff’s Patrol and Metro D.U.I. Unit Deputies, along with Memphis Police Officers, were in the Cordova area following a basketball game last evening at Mt. Pisgah Middle School on Mt. Pisgah Road. Officers wrote 32 violations involving:
- Speeding-9
- Seatbelt –Juvenile-1
- Seatbelt –Adult-13
- No Drivers License-Juvenile-1
- State Registration-Adult-5
- State Registration-Juvenile -1
- Headlight- 2
Also yesterday, Deputies patrolled Brunswick Road near Bolton High School during the morning and afternoon rush hours. In that saturation, 90 traffic violations, which included courtesy tickets, were written.
So far this year, Deputies and other officers working with the Sheriff’s Office in the “Zero Tolerance” traffic initiatives have handed out more than 600 tickets.
