In the early morning hours of January 24, 2007, the Mid-South Fugitive Task Force arrested Felix Ortiz-Pulley at his residence in Memphis, TN.  During the south Florida glory days of “Scarface” and “Miami Vice”, Felix Ortiz-Pulley was arrested by the DEA and charged with drug running.  On October 21, 1976, a warrant was issued out of the Southern District of Florida charging Felix Ortiz-Pulley with Failing to Surrender to the United States Marshal to Commence Service of Sentence.

In late December, 2006 the Mid-South Fugitive Task Force, which consists of members from the U.S. Marshals’ Office for the Western District of Tennessee, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department, and the Memphis Police Department,  began working the fugitive case on information provided by the Memphis F.B.I. office.  A man that worked and lived in Memphis under the name of Jose Marmol was determined to be the fugitive Felix Ortiz-Pulley.

Mid-South Fugitive Task Force members arrested Ortiz-Pulley at his residence as he was preparing to leave for an ordinary day of painting.  Western District of Tennessee U. S. Marshal David G. Jolley stated, “From Memphis to Miami, you can run from the law but you cannot run from your fingerprints.”  Ortiz-Pulley is in custody of the U. S. Marshals Service in Memphis pending an identity hearing and transportation back to Miami, Florida.

The Mid-South Fugitive Task Force began in August, 2005 and focuses on locating and apprehending fugitives that are wanted for violent crimes and sex offenses.  On January 17, 2007, the arrest of Corey SCOTT, wanted for charges of Raping a Child, marked the 500th arrest for the Mid South Fugitive Task Force.
