Four-Year-Old Boy Found Safe After Woman Goes On Crack Binge

Dianna JohnsonA woman who was supposed to take her boyfriend’s son to day care instead took the child on an all-night ride while she smoked crack. Deputies found the young boy safe and arrested the woman on kidnapping charges.

The incident began on January 3, 2006, when the four-year-old boy, who is deaf, was supposed to be taken to child care school by Dianna Johnson, 22. Ms. Johnson shares a home in the 3700 block of Sailboat Lane in Lakeland with her boyfriend, Reginald Moore.

About 10:30 yesterday morning, Mr. Moore, the child’s father, contacted the Sheriff’s Office and reported the child missing. He had repeatedly called his girlfriend on her cell phone but she did not answer.

Deputies did not issue an “Amber Alert” because there was no indication the child was in any imminent danger or bodily harm and that the father knew the boy was with his girlfriend.

Late yesterday afternoon (January 4), Ms. Johnson called the child’s father and told him she was at a house in South Memphis.

About 2:30, the child’s father, Sheriff’s detectives and Memphis Police officers went to the house in the 4700 block of Fairley Road near Shelby Drive.

They found Ms. Johnson in Mr. Moore’s car in the driveway. She was in the front seat and the little boy was in the backseat. They boy had not been harmed but indicated to officers he was hungry. Deputies returned the child to the custody of his father.
