Shelby County Jail trustee captured after brief escape
Release Date: March 3, 2003
A male jail trustee at the Shelby County Jail in downtown Memphis is again in custody after a brief escape. Twenty year old Ronnie White of Memphis, in jail awaiting court for Aggravated Robbery and Aggravated kidnapping, was a trustee assigned to the jail laundry.
About 4:15 this afternoon, White was seen running off the jail loading dock. Police and jail guards caught up with White less than a half-hour later in the 400 block of Sixth Street in North Memphis. Memphis Police arrested White without incident and returned him to the Shelby County Jail.
Shelby County Sheriff Mark Luttrell says an investigation is underway to determine how White managed to leave the facility.
