Shelby County Sheriff’s Office looking for a man who may be responsible for two recent shootings

Release Date: March 10, 2003

Shelby County Sheriff’s Detectives say they are looking for a man in connection with two recent shootings. One of those shootings happened in Southaven, Mississippi, Saturday morning. The other shooting happened the next day in a neighborhood near Shelby Farms.

Investigators say they are looking for a man in his early twenties, with a dark complexion, with a short afro hair style. Investigators say he is wanted for shooting 22-year-old Jennifer Langston, in East Shelby County early Sunday morning. Ms. Langston says a man approached her as she was getting out of her car near her parents home on Amberly Way Lane. He demanded she give him her car. When she refused, he shot her and took another shot at her father but missed. The suspect left in a dark colored car.

As information about this case surfaced, Southaven Police contacted the Sheriff’s Office to say there was a similar shooting in that town this past Saturday morning. A woman was approached by a man matching the same description, who was also driving a dark colored sedan. He confronted her outside a restaurant parking lot near Goodman Road and Interstate 55. He also demanded the woman’s car. When she refused, he took at shot at her but the gun misfired.

Anyone with information about either of these cases is asked to call the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, the Southaven Police Department, or Crime-Stoppers at 528-CASH.
