Students needed for Sheriff's Office Academy for Citizens

The Shelby County Sheriff's Office is taking applications for a citizen academy that will be offered later this month.
“This is the second time we've conducted the academy. The first class was held last fall. It will be an excellent opportunity for people to learn more about the inner-workings of the Sheriff's Office,” said Shelby County Sheriff Mark H. Luttrell, Jr.
During the ten week course students will see demonstrations, participate in group discussions and attend presentations by officers and staff members from the various divisions. Program topics include:

Besides the Thursday night meetings, there will be two Saturday demonstration classes. Those interested in attending may call the Crime Prevention Office at 867-1401 or register ONLINE BY CLICKING HERE. Before students are selected, they must pass a criminal background check.
