Arlington Burglar May Be Connected with Other Crimes
Release Date: October 11, 2004
Shelby County Sheriff’s Detectives say a man is in custody tonight who they believe is responsible for several home and vehicle burglaries in the Arlington area. Investigators say he may be connected to other crimes that happened in Arlington last Thursday night and early Friday morning.
On Saturday, October 9, 2004, London Williams, 20, was arrested at his apartment in the 2100 block of River Trace in Memphis by Memphis Police after someone called in a tip about Williams being a possible suspect. Shelby County Deputies had taken the initial burglary reports about the stolen items and were contacted by Memphis Police about the arrest.
Officers recovered power drills, saws, hunting equipment and other items belonging to the Arlington Plumbing Company at his apartment. Williams works at the business located at 5684 Cleaves Circle. Detectives say he admitted breaking into the company trucks last week.
Deputies also found other items at his apartment that were stolen from two other vehicle break-ins and at least one home burglary in the Arlington area. Sporting equipment, school books and two moped scooters were recovered.
Investigators also found several other items they believe might have been stolen in Arlington. Detectives say, however, the property has not been claimed. Anyone who has had a home or vehicle vandalized in the Arlington area should call Sergeant Freddie Hughes at the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Detective Division at (901) 545-5600.
Williams has been charged with three felonies in connection with the burglaries.
