Auction Set For Seized and Surplus Vehicles and Equipment

Release Date: October 25, 2004

Shelby County Government will be auctioning a variety of vehicles and equipment this weekend. Many of the items were seized during drug investigations. Other cars and equipment used by the County will also be sold.

Narcotics investigations during the last few years have yielded several vehicles, computers and other household equipment. After drug cases are heard in court, the owners can either buy back the items or they can be sold by the County with proceeds to be returned to Shelby County Government.

This weekend’s event will also feature a variety of vehicles used by the Sheriff’s Office, which includes former squad cars and motorcycles from the Traffic Division.

Anyone interested in seeing the vehicles and equipment before the auction can do so on Thursday, October 28, 2004. The items will be displayed at a warehouse building at 6363 Haley Road, near the Shelby County Corrections Center. The bidding will take place on Saturday, October 30, 2004, at 9:00 a.m.

For information about the auction, contact Joe Braswell, Deputy Administrator, Support Services, Shelby County Government, at (901) 508-5783.

Shelby County Government employees and their families ARE NOT eligible to bid on any of the items being sold.
