Memphis man dies in car crash in South-East Shelby County

Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Traffic investigators say a Memphis man died early this morning following a car crash on Bill Morris Parkway near Winchester Road.

Deputies say 37-year-old Carlos B. Freeman of Memphis was critically injured in the wreck shortly after 1:30 this morning. He died a few hours later at the Med.

Witnesses reported Freeman’s1992 Acura veered off the roadway and hit a guardrail as it was going West on Bill Morris Parkway near the Winchester Exit. Investigators believe the accident happened when Freeman apparently fell asleep while driving.
