Release Date: February 12, 2004

WHAT:

The Shelby County Sheriff's Office will combine forces with the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Governor Phil Bredesen's Highway Safety Program, Collierville Police Department and Memphis Police Department in an effort to curb speeding on Bill Morris Parkway.

Bill Morris Parkway - along approximately 14.4 miles from the Interstate 240 inter-change in East Memphis, through East Shelby County, to where the roadway ends in Collierville.

WHEN:

Friday, February 13, 2004 -- 7:00 a. m. until 2:00 p. m.

WHY:

Speeding is a traffic safety problem on Bill Morris Parkway. In 2003, 53 crashes happened on this roadway. One person was killed and eight people were injured in those crashes.
