Detectives Charge A Husband For Shooting His Wife During A Quarrel At Their Home
Release Date: April 4, 2004
Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Detectives have charged a man they believe shot his wife during an altercation at their Shelby County home near Bartlett last night. The shooting took place about six o’clock last evening in the 8200 block of Old Brownsville Road.
Witnesses told investigators Mack Gray, 45, chased his wife from their house firing a pistol at her. Paula Gray, 44, a jailer with the Bartlett Police Department, was shot in the neck.
Investigators say she flagged down a passing motorist and got into the vehicle. The woman driver took Ms. Gray around the corner to her house in the 5000 block of Wolf Chase Farms Parkway. Ms. Gray remains in stable condition today at The Med.
Mack Gray, however, was critically injured. Detectives say he suffered a gun shot wound to the head. However, it is still unclear how his injury occurred. Gray remains in critical condition at The Med.
Detectives say they recovered a pistol outside the couple’s home where Mr. Gray was found. Officers say the shooting was the result of a domestic issue between the couple.
