Investigators say the man broke into the store at 7110 East Shelby Drive in the early morning hours on August 19, 2004. Deputies say he got into the building by prying open the rear wall of the store.
A store security camera captured the man’s picture as he broke into the safe and stole the money and checks. He appears to be in his late thirties, has a dark brown complexion, stands about 5-7 to 5-8 and has a goatee. He wore a dark colored sweater and had on dark gloves.
Investigators believe he is the man who broke into that same Dollar General Store on two other occasions. On June 21, 2004, store officials found that someone had pried open the back door of the business. However, nothing was taken.
Then, on July 6, 2004, investigators believe the man returned. This time, however, he apparently hid in the store after it closed. During that burglary, he took clothes, food and several household items. No one was hurt during any of the burglaries.
Anyone knowing who the burglar is should call Sergeant D. Peete in the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Detective Division at 545-5600 or Crime Stoppers at 528-CASH (2274).
