Burglar Rams Sheriff’s Office Squad Car During His Escape

Release Date: June 4, 2004

A man caught burglarizing a home near Arlington today rammed a Sheriff’s Office squad as he fled from deputies. Investigators say a homeowner in the 10 thousand block of Memphis Arlington Road reported seeing a man breaking into a home just before eleven o’clock this morning.

When officers arrived, the suspect was still at the house. Deputies had just turned into the driveway when the man jumped into his car and rammed one of the squad cars.

The deputy driving the squad car wasn’t hurt. However there was major damage to the passenger side of the deputy’s car. The suspect sped away and was last seen in the area of Highway 64 at Chambers Chapel Road.

The burglar was white, in his mid-to-late forties, with salt and pepper colored hair and a gray beard. He was wearing a white tee shirt, blue jeans and tennis shoes.

The man’s car is a late model silver Nissan Altima that appeared to have specialty license tags. The front of the car will have damage on the right side.

The video camera inside the deputy’s cruiser captured the burglar ramming the squad car.
