Baby Girl Taken From Her Home Returned By Her Father Unhurt

Branson Alyssa WhittSheriff's Deputies say a nine-month-old baby girl taken from her North Shelby County home yesterday was returned unharmed to her mother late last night by her father.

Investigators say the father, who is separated from his wife, broke into his wife's home in the 4300 block of Hunter's Glen East near Raleigh and took the child yesterday morning.

Investigators say little Branson Alyssa Whitt was discovered missing from her bedroom about eight o'clock. Renee Hesse, the child's mother, called 9-1-1 and deputies spent the day searching for the child. Brandon Christopher Whitt

The mother told detectives she believed that her husband, Brandon Christopher Whitt, 30, who lives at another house in North Shelby County, broke into her home and took the child.

About ten o'clock last evening Brandon Whitt handed the baby girl over to Sheriff's Detectives at the Criminal Justice Center. Whitt was then arrested for aggravated burglary. He faces no charges for taking the child since he and his wife are still legally married.
