Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Citizen Academy Graduation Set For Tomorrow Night

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office will graduate its second “Citizen Academy” class on Thursday, April 29, 2004, at 6:30 p.m. at the Sheriff’s Office Training Academy, 993 Dovecrest. Nineteen students will graduate.

“This is the second time we conducted the academy. This has been an excellent opportunity for people to learn more about the inner-workings of the Sheriff’s Office,” said Shelby County Sheriff Mark H. Luttrell, Jr.

During the ten week course students saw demonstrations, participated in group discussions and attended presentations by officers and staff members from various divisions.

The next Citizen Academy will begin in August. Those interested in attending may call the Crime Prevention Office at (901) 867-1401 or register by E-mail at the Sheriff’s Office website at www.shelby-sheriff.org. Before students are selected, they must pass a criminal background check.
