Sheriff’s Citizens Academy Graduation Set For Tomorrow Night

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office “Citizens Academy” class will graduate on Tuesday, October 12, 2004, at 6:00 p.m., at the Sheriff’s Office Training Academy, 993 Dovecrest.

“Twenty students will graduate from our third class. This has been an excellent opportunity for people to learn more about the inner-workings of the Sheriff’s Office,” said Shelby County Sheriff Mark H. Luttrell, Jr.

During the twelve sessions students saw demonstrations, participated in group discussions and attended presentations by officers and staff members from various divisions that included:

  • Civil Division-Courts
  • Metro Gang Unit

  • Homeland Security
  • Courtroom Security
  • Patrol Support Services
  • Crime Report Center
  • Firing Range

  • Patrol
  • K-9 Squad
  • Narcotics
  • Training Academy
  • Pistol Range
  • Bureau of Accountability/Standards

  • Crime Prevention
  • Special Services
  • Reserves

Before students are selected, they must pass a criminal background check.
