Sheriff's Office Needs Students For Citizens' Academy

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office is now accepting applications for those who would like to be part of the “Citizens’ Academy.”   Class #7 will begin September 12 and continue through November 14, 2006. 

The ten-week course will be held on Tuesday evenings.  Some of the demonstrations will be held Saturdays. “Students will see demonstrations, participate in group discussions, and attend presentations by officers and staff members from the various divisions,” said Sheriff Mark H. Luttrell, Jr.

Students must be 21 years old, live or work in Shelby County and pass a criminal background check.

Online Applications may be submitted via our Citizens Academy web page.

Applications may also be picked up at the Sheriff’s Training Academy at 993 Dovecrest Road or be received in the mail by calling (901) 387-5750.
