Citizen’s Tip To Sheriff’s Patrol Deputies May Solve Many Recent Burglaries in East Shelby County and Collierville
Release Date: November 23, 2004
An alert citizen and aggressive investigative work by Shelby County Sheriff’s Patrol Deputies resulted in the arrest of an Arlington man who may be connected to several burglaries.
Just before 3 p.m. this past Sunday, November 21, 2004, a home was burglarized in the 800 block of Sycamore Road in East Shelby County. The homeowner reported that seven (7) rifles and shotguns, a 19 inch TV, two professional hunting bows, and his 1995 Mitsubishi Montero sport utility vehicle had been stolen.
Later that evening, a citizen provided a tip to a Sheriff’s Patrol Deputy that he knew the name of the person responsible for the thefts. The informant indicated the burglar might be responsible for some other burglaries in the Collierville area as well. He said the suspect might be at a home in the 4100 block of East Mallory.
Deputies immediately went to the house about 9 p.m. and saw the man leaning on the stolen SUV that was parked on the street. Officers arrested James R. Junge, 39, of Arlington. Officers say Junge also goes by the alias name of Larry Foutch.
Deputies say all of the items stolen from the house on Sycamore Road were in the van. During questioning, Junge admitted he had burglarized many other homes under construction in Shelby County, many of them in the Collierville area. The exact number of burglaries has not been determined. Junge told officers he had taken copper air conditioning lines from the homes. Collierville Police investigators are working jointly with the Sheriff’s Office detectives regarding those cases.
James R. Junge has been charged with Aggravated Burglary, Theft of Property over $1,000, and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
