Early Morning Car Crash Near Collierville Claims The Life Of A Fayette County Man

Release Date: April 4, 2004

Traffic investigators with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office say a Fayette County man was killed about two o’clock this morning in a car crash not far from Collierville. Officers say the man apparently fell asleep while driving.

Investigators say Timothy Malone, 30, was driving north on Collierville-Arlington when he lost control of his Dodge Colt and crashed into a guard rail along the Wolf River Bridge.

Investigators say his car hit the side of the bridge and flipped upside down. Officers don’t believe speed was a factor since there were no skid marks on the roadway. Although Malone was wearing his seat belt, he died a shot time later at The Med.

Investigators DO NOT believe alcohol was involved.
