Family Attacked and Robbed During Cordova Home Invasion
Release Date: September 11, 2008
Shelby County Sheriff's detectives say a man, his girlfriend and three children were tied up and held hostage for five hours last night and early this morning at their Cordova home.
The family told Sheriff’s detectives three masked men, armed with pistols, barged into the home at 8063 Port Douglas Drive just after ten o’clock. They tied up Raven Parson, 31, and her three children: two girls, 14 and 10, and a three year-old boy. The assailants then ransacked the house.
About one o’clock this morning, Tavious Swift, 28, arrived at the house which he shares with Ms. Parson and the children. Swift was also attacked and tied up.
Just after three o’clock, the attackers left the home in Swift’s black Chevy Tahoe with an undetermined amount of cash and jewelry. The license tag on the stolen SUV is: TN 012-SSN.
Swift was taken to Baptist Hospital in stable condition and treated for his injuries which were not life-threatening. Ms. Parson and the children were not hurt.
Detectives say this was not a random crime. Investigators believe the home was targeted because of the cash, jewelry and other items.
Anyone with information about the home invasion should call the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office General Investigation Bureau at (901) 545-5600 or Crime Stoppers at (901) 528-CASH (2274).
