Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputies have charged a Memphis man in connection with a home burglary in Cordova yesterday. Dexter Middle and Elementary Schools were locked down for two hours while Deputies searched for the man and two other suspects.

Last evening, Sheriff’s detectives charged Darius Lewis, 19, of Raleigh, with Aggravated Burglary. Deputies say Lewis drove the getaway car after two men broke into a home in the 6900 block of Bellevue Trace just after noon.

A security alarm sounded and a neighbor saw two men run out the front door of the house with computer equipment. The suspects dropped the computer in the front yard. One man got into a maroon Nissan driven by Lewis. The other man ran into some woods. No one was permitted to enter or leave Dexter Middle and Elementary Schools while Deputies searched for the burglar.

Just after 2 o’clock, Deputies spotted the getaway car in the 4400 block of Brickwood Lane in Raleigh. Deputies arrested Lewis at the house and charged with him Aggravated Burglary. The other two suspects have not been located.

Anyone with information about the home burglary in Cordova is asked to call the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Detective Division at (901) 545-5600 or Crime Stoppers at (901) 528-CASH (2274).
