Shelby County Sheriff’s Detectives say a couple and six children were the victims of a home invasion yesterday morning in Cordova.

The intruders attacked the man and woman at the house and then took money and other items from the home. The six children were not hurt.

Investigators say it happened in the 1300 block of Broadstone Lane just after 2:30 Sunday morning.

The man who lives at the house says the intruders broke in through a back door. They threatened to kill him, a woman and the children at the house if the homeowner did not give the suspects money.

The victim said one of the intruders was armed with a pistol and a laser light. Investigators say the suspects hit the man in the back of the head several times as they made demands for money.

The intruders bound the victim’s hands with duct tape and an appliance cord and then ransacked the house. During the attack, one of the suspects sexually assaulted a woman who was visiting the house. The suspects also kicked open a bedroom door where two of the children slept. They and the other four children in another part of the house were not injured.

The suspects left the home with an undetermined amount of money and a rifle.

Deputies say the victims did not see their faces but believed they were black by their voices. The suspects were in their late teens or early twenties.

One suspect wore a “Jason” ice hockey mask similar to the one featured in the “Friday the 13th” movie. That man had on a brown jacket with a hood.

Another suspect wore a dark colored jacket with possibly a hood. There was no description available for the third man.
