Christopher Smith |
Investigators say Christopher Smith, 23, who lived in the 1100 block of Macon Hall Road, was found shot to death about 7:30 yesterday morning along a walking path in the 9800 block of Woodland Hills. The walking path is part of a recreation area for residents of the Woodland Hills subdivision.
A man walking his dog found Smith’s body and called Sheriff's Deputies. Smith’s car, a 2004 Oldsmobile Alero, was parked near the walking track.
Sheriff’s detectives are not sure whether Smith drove himself to the Woodland Hills area or whether another person was with him. Sheriff’s detectives and investigators with the Sheriff’s Street Crimes Unit are jointly working on the case.
This was the first murder investigated by Sheriff’s Deputies in 2007. Last year, there were five murders in the Sheriff’s Office patrol districts.
Anyone with information about the murder is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau at (901) 545-5600 or Crime Stoppers at (901) 528- CASH (2274).
