Deputies Upgrade Charges for Suspects in Cordova Area Murder

Two men arrested for murdering a Cordova man now face First Degree Murder in Perpetration of a Robbery charges. Deputies and Assistant District Attorneys with the Shelby County District Attorney General’s Office met this evening and decided the charges should be upgraded.
Investigators say not only was Christopher Smith shot to death, but the pair robbed him of marijuana during a drug deal arranged by Smith this past weekend in the Woodland Hills area of Cordova.
Sheriff's detectives took Charles Williams, 19, of Memphis, into custody about 4 p.m. yesterday evening. Investigators believe he was the person who shot Smith.
Detectives also arrested Terrance Rose, 18, of East Shelby County, this past Sunday night. Deputies in the Homicide and Street Crimes Unit linked him to the murder and robbery within hours of when Smith’s body was found Sunday morning.
