Sheriff’s Office Corrections Deputies to Graduate Next Week
Release Date: December 13, 2006
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office will graduate 23 Corrections Deputies at a ceremony next week. The program will be held on Monday night, December 18, at the Agricenter at 7777 Walnut Grove Road, at 7 o’clock.
“We are pleased to graduate these Corrections Deputies. These men and women are to be commended for their efforts to serve our community by working at the Shelby County Jail,” said Shelby County Sheriff Mark H. Luttrell, Jr.
The Corrections Deputies have been part of a rigorous seven-week training course which included the latest jail security methods, physical agility and Sheriff’s Office policies and procedures.
“These graduates have shown a high degree of professionalism and dedication throughout the course of their training. The additional staff will certainly help ensure that inmates in our care and custody remain safe and secure,” said Chief Jailer James E. Coleman.
With Monday’s graduation, the Sheriff’s Office will have 860 Corrections Deputies, which includes supervisors, who serve at three locations: the men’s facility downtown at 201 Poplar Avenue, the women’s Jail East facility in East Memphis and the satellite Shelby County Jail inmate holding area at the Shelby County Corrections Center in East Memphis.
