Sheriff's School Crossing Guard Hit While Directing Traffic This Morning

Release Date: February 28, 2005

A Shelby County Sheriff's Crossing Guard is recovering from injuries he received while directing traffic near Dexter Middle School in the Cordova area early today.

Just after 7 o'clock this morning, Edwin Aguanno, 63, was directing traffic at the intersection of Amberly Way Drive at Charles Bryan Road. That's when a car traveling east on Amberly Way, failed to stop at Charles Bryan and collided with another vehicle going north on Charles Bryan.

That vehicle then hit Aguanno. He was taken to St. Francis Hospital with non-critical injuries.

Keva Partee, 26, of Memphis, was cited for disregarding a stop sign and disobedience to a traffic officer. Partee and the driver of the other vehicle were not hurt in the crash.
