An off-duty Sheriff's Deputy was killed this evening in a motorcycle crash in the Woodstock area.
Just before 7 o'clock, Deputy Earl Quinton (E.Q.) Perry was riding his 2005 Harley-Davidson motorcycle south on Woodstock-Cuba Road when he lost control of the bike in the 5800 block near Woodstock Middle School.
No other vehicles were involved.
Sheriff's Office Traffic Investigators say Perry had just rounded a curve when the motorcycle left the roadway.
Perry, 56, of Millington, was a crime analyst in the Information Systems Bureau. Detective Perry had served the Sheriff's Office since 1989.
“Detective Perry was an excellent officer. Through his efforts, the Sheriff's Office made tremendous strides in using crime data to help keep our community safe. We at the Sheriff's Office are deeply saddened by his passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family,” said Shelby County Sheriff Mark H. Luttrell, Jr.
