A Shelby County Corrections Center inmate who walked away from a work detail today has been captured.
Darron Easley, 39, was taken into custody about 6 o’clock this evening by Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Bureau Deputies and Officers from the Shelby County Corrections Center Recovery Team. Easley was found hiding in a house in the 4200 block of Barr in south Memphis. He surrendered without resistance.
Easley was part of an inmate crew doing work at the Mid-South Coliseum when he walked away from the group about noon. He was serving a sentence at the Shelby County Corrections Center for three counts of Theft of Property and for Altering Serial Numbers on a Motor Vehicle.
Easley was returned to the corrections center, operated by the Shelby County Department of Corrections, and charged with Escape from a Correctional Facility.
