Deputies Capture Cell Phone Shoplifters
Release Date: March 10, 2006
Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputies confronted and arrested two armed shoplifters last evening at the Target Store on Winchester.
About 5:30, the two suspects had been spotted by Target employees stealing cell phones. Since the two were armed with knives, Sheriff’s Deputies were called to make the arrest.
Deputies took Winston Jones, 22, of Northaven, and Demarcus Morgan, 23, of Memphis, into custody as they walked out of the store with the four stolen cell phones.
A woman driving their getaway car, Sherrie Hardy, 21, of Millington, was also arrested.

When Deputies searched the car, they found five more cell phones that were stolen about an hour earlier from another Target Store on Germantown Road.
Deputies with the Sheriff’s Office “ALERT Squad (Area Law Enforcement Retailers Team)” that specializes in retail theft, shoplifting, and fraud cases believe the trio may have also shoplifted cell phones recently at other department stores.
All three suspects have been charged with shoplifting-theft of property over $500.
