Thirty-nine (39) Deputies will graduate from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Training Academy this Thursday, August 16, 2007.

“We are pleased to graduate these Deputies from the academy. They have demonstrated their dedication and professionalism. We are grateful these officers chose to join the ranks of the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office,” said Shelby County Sheriff Mark H. Luttrell, Jr.

Deputies received 20 weeks of training which included classes about Tennessee laws, Shelby County ordinances, Sheriff’s Office policies, the use of firearms and physical agility.

The 7 p.m. graduation ceremony will be held at Hope Presbyterian Church, 8500 Walnut Grove Road, Cordova, Tennessee.

Including the new graduates, the Sheriff’s Office will have 531 commissioned officers and command staff assigned to various bureaus.
