Sheriff Deputy Arrested for Official Misconduct

Greg JacksonA Shelby County Sheriff’s deputy is in jail tonight charged with official misconduct and computer violations. Greg Jackson, 44, a bailiff assigned to the Criminal Courts was arrested by investigators with the Sheriff‘s Office Bureau of Professional Standards and Integrity about 6:00 p.m., this evening. Officers say Jackson was taken into custody after he agreed to take money from a person posing as someone who needed crime information from a secured computer file.

Deputy Jackson has been with the Sheriff’s Office since 1994. He was assigned to the courts a year ago. Jackson has been relieved of duty with pay pending the outcome of the case. Officials say that tonight’s arrest is part of an ongoing investigation directed by the Sheriff’s Office and the District Attorney’s office.
