Jason ShackelfordDeputies with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Street Crimes and Narcotics Units arrested a Bartlett man this past weekend wanted on drug charges. Jason Shackelford, 33, was arrested about 1:30 Saturday morning at a home in midtown in the 2100 block of Elzey Street.

Arrest warrants had been issued last week for Shackelford by United States Marshals and the Memphis Police Department. Last Wednesday, Memphis Police Officers raided a house in the 2500 block of Union Avenue and found methamphetamine and marijuana inside. Shackelford was there but escaped when officers attempted to take him into custody.

Sheriff’s Street Crimes and Narcotics Unit Deputies later tracked Shackelford to the house on Elzey. Deputies say when they knocked on the door and identified themselves early Saturday morning, Shackelford refused to come out of the house. Deputies forced their way through the front door and found Shackelford hiding in a bedroom closet. No drugs were found at the house on Elzey.

Shackelford faces charges of illegal possession of methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.
