The Metro DUI Squad issued more than 100 traffic citations last night during a county-wide traffic enforcement effort. The squad is comprised of officers with the Shelby County Sheriff's Office and Germantown Police Department.
Officers, including Sheriff's Office Reserve Deputies, watched for drivers who might be impaired by alcohol and drugs. The DUI Officers also looked for drivers who were speeding or driving recklessly.
Here are the results of the enforcement effort:
- Speeding 78
- Disregard Stop Sign 14
- Violation of Vehicle Registration 5
- Seat Belts 3
- No Drivers License 2
- Failure To Yield. 1
- Child Restraint 1
- Other Moving Violations 1
- Non-Moving Violations 3
Total: 108
Last night's Metro DUI enforcement initiative was funded by a grant from the Governor's Highway Safety Office. G.H.S.O. grants enable law enforcement Officers across Tennessee to work additional hours to spot and arrest drivers under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
