Ten officers focused their attention on Forest Hill-Irene Road at Holmes Road and on Walnut Grove Road near Farm Road. Deputies set up traffic safety checkpoints to spot drivers and their passengers not wearing seatbelts. When not at the checkpoints, officers watched drivers who were speeding, driving recklessly or impaired by alcohol or drugs. Here are the results of the enforcement effort:

Total Traffic Violations: 99

• 87 Regular Tickets
• 5 Juvenile Tickets
• 4 Courtesy Tickets
• 3 Arrests-(two Misdemeanor Citations for no driver’s license-One out-of-state-driver physically arrested for driving on a revoked license)

Included in the 99 violations were 32 seatbelt violations and four violations of the child restraint law.

Last weekend’s saturation was part of the nationwide “Click-it or Ticket” initiative by law enforcement agencies that began May 21st and continues through June 3rd. The enforcement initiative was funded by a grant from the Governor’s Highway Safety Office to help stop the sale of alcohol to minors.
