Deputies with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Bureau say a Tipton County man was found dead today after his dump truck ran off the road in North Shelby County.

However, Sheriff’s Office Traffic Crash Investigators believe the man died from a medical condition moments before his truck left the roadway.

Deputies say just after eleven o’clock this morning, Lee Mitchell, 71, of Burlison, Tennessee, was driving his Ford dump truck west on Millington-Arlington Road.

As Mitchell’s truck passed Osborntown Road, it slowed down and veered off the road into some trees near Grattitude Church Road.

Deputies say Mitchell’s dump truck had minimal damage and that Mitchell apparently never used the brakes.  No skid marks were on the pavement.

The Shelby County Medical Examiner will determine the exact cause of Lee Mitchell’s death. No other vehicles were involved.
