Shelby County Sheriff's Office Traffic Deputies say an Eads man was killed early today in a one-vehicle traffic crash in the Eads community in East Shelby County.

Just before 6 o'clock, Deputies say William Guthrie, Jr., 45, died when he lost control of his pick up truck on Inglewood Road just north of Sumac Road.

Investigators say Guthrie was traveling south on Inglewood. As his 2004 GMC truck rounded a curve, the vehicle left the road and struck a tree.

Deputies say speed was a factor and that Guthrie was not wearing a seat belt.

Blood tests were taken to determine whether alcohol was involved.

This was the first traffic death investigated by Sheriff's Deputies this year.
