22 Arrested, 267 Traffic Tickets Issued, Drugs, Vehicles and Cash Seized by Deputies in “Zero Tolerance” Enforcement Effort
Release Date: December 16, 2005
Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Deputies once again “saturated” neighborhoods in South-East Shelby County in response to home burglaries, vehicle break-ins and other crimes that continue to plague the area.
For several hours last night, 68 Sheriff’s Office personnel that included Deputies, Reserve Deputies, members of the Shelby County Jail Gang Unit and volunteers with the Emergency Services Division patrolled the area near Shelby Drive at Hacks Cross.
“Based on our statistics, we target key areas of the community for these “zero-tolerance” enforcement efforts. We want to send a clear message to the people who live and work in these neighborhoods that the Sheriff’s Office will continue to maintain a high presence to discourage crime,” said Sheriff Mark Luttrell, Jr.
Deputies took a “zero tolerance” approach to all crimes in the area. Here are the results of the crime suppression effort last night:
- Arrests-22 (PHYSICAL ARRESTS-7 adult felony, 3 juvenile felony, 6 misdemeanor) and 6 misdemeanor citations issued which require booking at the Records and Identification Section at the Shelby County Jail and mandatory court appearance
- Traffic Tickets-267-195 violations, 72 courtesy citations
- Gang Members Identified-Four
- Narcotics Recovered-1.0 g. Crack Cocaine, 1.2 g. Powder Cocaine, 59.6 g. Marijuana, 14.7 g. Methamphetamine, 10 Ecstasy Pills
- Vehicles Seized-four (4) involved in drug activity
- Cash Seized-$4601.00
This is the third crime “saturation” in this area of Shelby County this year. Back in July and earlier this month, additional Deputies, Reserve Deputies and support personnel patrolled this area of Shelby County near Hickory Hill.
Including last night’s results there have been more than 70 arrests, more than 600 traffic tickets issued, several vehicles, illegal drugs and the cash used in those drug deals that have been confiscated by officers in South-East Shelby County.
