Two students from Shelby County Schools will be honored at a ceremony next week sponsored by the Exchange Clubs.
Each year the Exchange Clubs honor elementary school students for ideas expressed in essays that focus on ways to keep the community safe.
This year’s “Junior Sheriff” award will be given to Elizabeth Wisdom, a ten year-old student at Riverdale Elementary School. The “Junior Chief Deputy” award will be given to Nicholas Sanders, also ten years-old, of Highland Oaks Elementary School.
Shelby County Sheriff Mark Luttrell and the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy, Bill Oldham, will assist the Exchange Club in making the presentations next Tuesday, October 16, 2007, at Southwest Tennessee Community College at 5983 Macon Cove, in the Farris Building, Rooms A and B. The presentation begins at 11:30 a.m.
Excerpts of the students’ essays will be presented at the luncheon meeting.
The Exchange Clubs provide assistance for victims of child abuse and domestic violence.
