Sheriff’s Office Special Services Bureau to Deliver Food Baskets

The Sheriff’s Office Special Services Bureau will be delivering 130 food baskets in the morning.  The baskets will go to home-bound people who are visited weekly by volunteers with the Sheriff’s Office.

The volunteers will gather at the Sheriff’s Substation, 11670 Memphis Arlington Road, at 9 o’clock.  Volunteers will then deliver the baskets to the families.

The food baskets were donated by the Neighborhood Christian Center.  The Sheriff’s Office and the Neighborhood Christian Center work together on various community initiatives.

The Special Services Bureau consists of Special Services Volunteers.

  • Thirty-six (36) squad members visit senior citizens and provide assistance at community functions involving the Sheriff’s Office. Last year, volunteers made 8838 visits to elderly/shut-in/disabled citizens.
  • Service Requirement: 16 hours/month
  • Hours of Service to the community by this division in 2006: 5,950
  • Projected value added to the department resulting from this volunteer unit: $140,000
