Sheriff's Deputies, Tennessee State Troopers and Millington Police Join Forces For Traffic Safety Effort This Friday Night
Release Date: February 28, 2005
Shelby County Sheriff's Deputies will be conducting a joint law enforcement traffic safety initiative in the Millington and North Shelby County area this Friday, March 4.
“Our Deputies will be working in partnership with the Tennessee Highway Patrol and the Millington Police Department to send a clear message to those who travel on Highway 51 and Highway 385. With high traffic volumes in this part of Shelby County have come an increased number of incidents that involve speeding and reckless driving,” said Shelby County Sheriff Mark H. Luttrell, Jr.
The “zero tolerance” enforcement effort is targeted for drivers who may be impaired, driving recklessly, speeding or not wearing seat belts.
“The Highway Patrol is committed to work with other agencies to support the efforts of the Governor's Highway Safety Office. Our goal is to reduce traffic deaths and injuries across the state. We appreciate this opportunity to partner with the Shelby County Sheriff's Office and the Millington Police Department,” said Captain Joe Nunn, Commander of the Memphis District of the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
“Our officers routinely conduct aggressive traffic enforcement efforts in Millington. To have the assistance from Deputies and Troopers will help us keep our community as safe as possible,” said Millington Police Chief William Howard.
This Friday's traffic safety initiative will begin in the evening hours and continue through the early morning hours on Saturday.
