Shelby County Sheriff’s Detectives have arrested seven teenagers with ties to the “Bloods and Rollin’ 20s” gangs who they believe are responsible for burglarizing and vandalizing homes in South-East Shelby County.

Two of the teenagers, both 17 years old, belong to the “Bloods” Gang.  They were arrested by deputies on March 7th.  One of the young men was already in custody at Memphis and Shelby County Juvenile Court and the other teenager was arrested at Germantown High School.  The arrests stem from a home burglary in the 6700 block of Spencer Forrest Cove on February 18, 2007.

Three other teenagers with ties to criminal gangs were also arrested recently by Deputies for breaking into homes and vandalizing and living in new homes under construction or awaiting sale.

The suspects told investigators they are members of the “Rollin’ 20s” Gang.  The suspects are young men 16, 17 and 19 years-old.  The 19 year-old, Giouny Hunter, told deputies he was homeless and had been living in newly built vacant homes.

Deputies say Hunter vandalized a new home awaiting sale in the 7000 block of Millers Glen Way back in December of 2006.  Carpets, bathroom fixtures and other items in the home were damaged.

On February 7, Giouny Hunter and another teen, Christopher Byers, 18, broke into another vacant home in the 5400 block of Brook Shade Lane.

Then on February 19, 2007, a real estate agent caught Hunter inside of a third newly built home in the 7500 block of Glen Creek Cove.   Hunter ran away before he could be arrested.

Deputies also linked Hunter and his fellow gang associates with burglaries at two homes in South-East Shelby County.

On the morning of December 5, 2006, a home in the 4300 block of Barren Brook Drive was burglarized.  A window at the home was knocked out and jewelry, clothes and furs were taken.

Then, a few days later on December 10, 2006, the teenagers allegedly visited a home in the 8400 block of Kamin Lane.  The suspects were allowed inside by a family member.  Later, it was discovered jewelry and expensive clothing were taken from the home.

Additionally, Hunter has been charged with Burglary, Vandalism, and two counts of Theft of Property regarding two bicycles taken from homes on Silver Stone Cove and the other from a home on Eagle Bead Cove.

Hunter and Christopher Byers also face charges of Criminal Trespass for living in new homes under construction.

The Shelby County SWAT Team assisted detectives with two of the seven arrests.
