Release Date: November 18, 2002
The Shelby County Sheriff's Office has received a national award from Law & Order Magazine for the design of the Metro Gang Unit patrol cars.
This afternoon at 2:30 p.m., Sheriff Mark Luttrell will be presenting an award of appreciation to Deputy Donald Wolfe, who designed the logo on the car. The award presentation will be made at the Sheriff's Office Special Operations Unit at 983 Dovecrest near the Sheriff's Office Training Academy.
The Law & Order Magazine magazine awarded the Shelby County Sheriff's Office First Place in the “Special Purpose Vehicle” logo competition. The vehicle, that publicizes the enforcement efforts of the Metro Gang Unit, is used at schools, churches and other events.
“I commend Deputy Wolfe's creativity and offer my personal thanks for helping the Metro Gang Unit have a unique identity among the law enforcement vehicles in Memphis and Shelby County”, said Shelby County Sheriff Mark Luttrell.
