Funeral Plans Set For Former Shelby County Sheriff A.C. Gilless

Former Shelby County Sheriff A.C. Gilless will be remembered at services tonight and tomorrow.

Visitation:

• Monday, November 29, 2004
• Forest Hill Funeral Home South on 2545 East Holmes Road
• 5 p.m. through 8:00 p.m.
• Cameras will be allowed inside chapel

Funeral:

• Tuesday, November 30, 2004
• Bellevue Baptist Church 2000 Appling Road
• 2:00 p.m.
• Burial to follow at Forest Hill South Cemetery at 2545 East Holmes Road
• Cameras will be allowed at the service

Sheriff Gilless, who served longer in office than any other Sheriff of Shelby County, died early this past Friday morning, (November 26, 2004) of complications from lung cancer.

In respect to his more than 40 years of law enforcement service to the community at the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office and the Shelby County Division of Corrections, Sheriff Gilless will have a funeral service with honors, including a 21 gun salute at the cemetery.

The funeral route will be begin at Bellevue Baptist Church on Appling Road, proceed west on Interstate 40 to Interstate 240 south, then west to Airways, south on Airways to Holmes, then east on Holmes to the cemetery.
