Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputies say a man was shot at this morning after he broke up a fight between several teenagers in the Northaven area.  Sheriff’s detectives have charged a woman for firing the pistol.

It happened just after 6 o’clock in the Horton Gardens housing community. Several teenagers were waiting on a school bus at Rouge Bluff Avenue and Steamboat Bend when two girls started fighting, one 17, the other 16.

The 17 year-old was cut under the eye by the other teenager.  As that fight ended, a second fight started. Kristopher McMickens, 40, was nearby and was able to stop the fight.

Moments later, Deputies say Anikia Maxon, 33, the mother of the 17 year-old girl injured in the first fight, stepped from her apartment and fired a pistol.  No one was hit by the bullet.

Maxon has been charged with Aggravated Assault.  Her 17 year-old daughter and the other 16 year-old girl who fought with her have been charged with Assault.
