Deputies Issue 47 Citations in Holiday Enforcement Effort

As traffic increases on area roads due the Christmas holidays, Sheriff’s Deputies are looking for people who drive recklessly or are under the influence of alcohol and other drugs.
Last evening, Officers with the Metro D.U.I. Squad conducted a traffic enforcement effort in East Shelby County which included neighborhoods in Lakeland, Arlington and Cordova. Officers with the Sheriff’s Office and Germantown Police Department comprise the Metro D.U.I. Squad.
“This is one of the busiest travel times of the year. It is also a time for a lot of holiday celebrating which increases the chances of people who choose to drive while impaired by alcohol or other drugs. It is important officers stay vigilant to keep our streets as safe as possible during the holiday season,” said Shelby County Sheriff Mark H. Luttrell, Jr.

- Speeding - 21
- Disregarding Stop Sign - 17
- State Registration - 5
- Other County Non-Moving Violations - 3
- Other County Moving Violations - 1
