Sheriff’s Deputies To Support “Holiday Blue Lights” Campaign
Release Date: November 21, 2005
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office will join with law enforcement agencies across West Tennessee to support the “Holiday Blue Light” campaign sponsored by the “C.O.P.S.” organization, which stands for Concerns of Police Survivors.
November 28, 2005, will be the kick-off day for the campaign which will urge law enforcement officers and the public to have blue lights in their home and business windows and use blue bulbs for outside decorations and holiday trees.
“The Sheriff’s Office is proud to be part of the campaign. “C.O.P.S.” is a very worthy organization that provides emotional and financial support to the families of law enforcement officers who are killed in the line of duty. I’m urging all people in Shelby County to show their support by decorating with blue lights this holiday season,” said Shelby County Sheriff Mark H. Luttrell, Jr.
On November 28, 2005, at 2:00 p.m., representatives of “C.O.P.S.” will assist Sheriff Luttrell in lighting a holiday tree at Sheriff’s Office Substation at 11670 Memphis Arlington Road in Arlington.
“We are grateful to Sheriff Luttrell and the Sheriff’s Office employees for helping promote our mission. As night falls during the holiday season, we’d like to see blue lights at every home and business to show support for the relatives of those law enforcement officers who have given their lives for our community,” said Linda Gregory, President of the West Tennessee Chapter of “C.O.P.S.”
