Sheriff’s Deputies on the Lookout for Impaired and Reckless Drivers during the Holidays

Release Date: December 21, 2006

Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputies will be on high alert for the next couple of weeks to stop people who drive recklessly or under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

“We know this is one of the busiest times for holiday parties.  Our deputies will be keeping a close watch on traffic through New Year’s Day,” said Shelby County Sheriff Mark H. Luttrell, Jr.

Deputies assigned to the Metro D.U.I., Patrol, Traffic and Reserve Units will be involved in the holiday traffic enforcement effort.

Additionally, deputies will be making surprise visits at convenience stores, liquor stores, grocery stores and drugstores to ensure clerks do not sell alcohol to customers under the age of 21.
