During the home invasion, a man who lived at the house was shot and a large amount of money was taken from the home.
Last weekend, Sheriff’s detectives arrested and charged Darnell Deener for his suspected role in the crime.
Investigators say Vernon Taylor, 35, was visiting his cousin, Starla Durham, 24, and her boyfriend, Jermaine Carroll, who is 25 years old.
As Taylor took out the trash, investigators allege Deener, Warren and two other men, armed with guns forced him back into the home.
Once in the house, the robbers made everyone in the house, including Ms. Durham’s two teenaged nephews, lie on the floor.
After ransacking the house and taking cash, investigators say Deener shot Jermaine Carroll in the leg. Carroll was released from The Med last past weekend. The others in the house were not hurt.
This evening, Marion Warren remains at the Shelby County Jail. He has been charged with Especially Aggravated Kidnapping, Aggravated Robbery and Aggravated Assault. His bond has been set at $400,000.
Darnell Deener faces six charges. He has been charged with Especially Aggravated Kidnapping, Aggravated Kidnapping, and four counts of Aggravated Assault. Deener was released from the Shelby County Jail this past weekend on $150,000 bond.
Detectives say Deener may face additional charges.
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the other two men involved in the home invasion is asked to call the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Detective Division at (901) 545-5600 or Crime Stoppers at (901) 528-CASH (2274).
